From the pole Bob Faieta wins Round Two of the
2008 IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Michelin
Two in a row!
Again starting from the pole position Bob Faieta was able to set a pace enough to keep those pursuing him at bay, and while Bob turned another even faster lap than in his first race setting a new race record even closer to his record qualifying lap, it was Wayland Joe, who had been put out in the first race due to an accident and starting well back in the order made a charge up through the field, in the process just eclipsed Bob's fast lap and took a new race lap record home with him.
It looks like the testing and setup the week before the race paid off, the Moton shocks doing their job again, while Bob said this time he will be better prepared and show the focus he felt wasn't there last year at Sebring.

Faieta Wins Round One
of the 2008 IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge
by Michelin
Starting from the pole Faieta knew he had is work cut out for him with most of the top ten qualifiers hot on his heels. After half a dozen laps of slippery driving on the drying course Faieta went too deep into turn 7 leaving the door open for the new young competitor Tony Rivera to go under him, but on the next lap Bob was able to get back by and he was able to maintain the lead and pull ahead at the end of the race by 4 seconds turning a new race lap record in the process.
Not too bad - a pole, a new qualifying record, a win and a new race lap record. Nice going Bob! You think anyone is looking for a hot shoe in the 12 hours? Well stay tuned for Round Two. Bob is on the pole again!

IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge Series
The IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge doesn't allow professional drivers, so the field is filled with talented club racers who have an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities, and learn what it takes to enter professional racing.
One of the big issues with the series is car to car - contact not allowed in club racing. To be in the points you have to finish, so learning to stay out of trouble and to avoid those drivers who think the rules are for everyone else while fighting for position can be difficult.
IMSA officals have demonstrated they intend to enforce sportsman like behavior though and have already sent drivers home that don't practice good clean racing. Bob has been working hard this season to avoid such drivers and get out front with enough lead to stay clear of trouble.
