September 3rd - 6th, 2007 - Petite Le Mans
Road Atlanta, GA
Care Level Racing/Moton 2-Way Motorsport shock equipped Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car, driven by Bob Faieta, from Tujunga, Calif., closes in on 2007 IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge championship.
Round 9 at Petite LeMans saw Bob Faieta qualify second to championship rival Charles Scardina (Metro Racing Systems). While the teams qualified in dry conditions, race day saw rain and a complete change in conditions. Bob held on to the second place spot while it just wasn't possible to challenge for a pass and risk an incident that could put him back or worse out of contention. By finishing second to Scardina, Bob kept within 4 points of the championship lead and heading to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the final rounds 10 and 11.
Bob has two chances to better Charles Scardina, and this at Bob's home track. We've seen Bob run at Laguna and if he can get his car on the pole, he will be nearly impossible to pass. This will be an exciting conclusion to the hard fought season. We'll be on hand for sure! How about you?
IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge Series
The IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge doesn't allow professional drivers, so the field is filled with talented club racers who have an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities, and learn what it takes to enter professional racing.
One of the big issues with the series is car to car - contact not allowed in club racing. To be in the points you have to finish, so learning to stay out of trouble and to avoid those drivers who think the rules are for everyone else while fighting for position can be difficult.
IMSA officals have demonstrated they intend to enforce sportsman like behavior though and have already sent drivers home that don't practice good clean racing. Bob has been working hard this season to avoid such drivers and get out front with enough lead to stay clear of trouble.
