Faieta from the back of the pack to a 5th place finish in 11 laps

Bob Faieta starting from 19th position in his #4 Care Level Racing, Moton Shock equipped Porsche GT3 Cup charged his way to a 5th place finish after the all nighter changing motors in his 2008 GT3 Cup. After the bad luck on Saturday, scoring any championship points was important.

Steve Goldman in his #3 Care Level Racing, Moton Shock equipped Porsche GT3 Cup moved up four spots from his 13th qualifying position to finish 9th for another top 10 finish.

Round 3 of the 2008 IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Michelin
ends after a motor failure on Lap 4

A tough break!

A very unusual motor failure put Bob Faieta out on lap 4 of Round Three. A last place finish to the first race at Miller Motorsports Park meant no points, a back of the grid start for tomorrow's race, and an all nighter changing the motor on his 2008 GT3 Cup.

Steve Goldman's 13th qualifying position made for an interesting start, and lot's of traffic with the usual two and three wide first lap, but unfortunately a lot of banging fenders to avoid. Steve made his way through the field avoiding most of the malaise to an eventual 13th place finish. A good qualifying position continues to be critically important.

IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge Series

The IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge doesn't allow professional drivers, so the field is filled with talented club racers who have an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities, and learn what it takes to enter professional racing.

One of the big issues with the series is car to car - contact not allowed in club racing. To be in the points you have to finish, so learning to stay out of trouble and to avoid those drivers who think the rules are for everyone else while fighting for position can be difficult.

IMSA officals have demonstrated they intend to enforce sportsman like behavior though and have already sent drivers home that don't practice good clean racing. Bob has been working hard this season to avoid such drivers and get out front with enough lead to stay clear of trouble.
