Back on top with another class win at the Canadian Grand Prix
Fighting terrible track conditions as pavement continued to come apart in a number of corners, particularly the turn 10 hairpin, Bob took advantage of an error by Dino Steiner on the first lap into the hairpin to get by and stay ahead for his third win of the season.
After the unusual engine failure put him out of the race on lap 4 of Round 3 at Miller Motorsports Park, Bob Faieta had his work cut out for him starting at the back of the grid in Round 4. He drove his way to a 5th place finish however in only 11 green flag laps to score much needed championship points, but this weekend helped with a recovery in the points bringing Bob back to second in the series Platinum class (for 2008 997 GT3 Cup cars) with 8 more rounds to go.
The star of the weekend had to be young Tony Rivera who out paced all competitors in his Gold class (for 2005-2007 997 GT3 Cup cars) by more than a second per lap and netted his sixth consecutive Gold class win of the season.

Canadian Grand Prix

From his 3rd qualifying position on row 2 Bob Faieta finishes 2nd in class in his 2008 Porsche 997 GT3 Cup.
A solo weekend for Bob Faieta with team mate and team principal Steve Goldman missing this weekend's race, Bob hitched a ride with Dennis Aase's Aasco Motorsports team for the trip to the F1 weekend in Montreal.
Dennis, a bright star of IMSA racing for more than 30 years (we met Dennis at the 12 hours of Sebring in 1977). As a driver Dennis held the record for IMSA Pole Positions for many years, and continues to be one of the most respected names in Sports Car racing.
IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge Series
The IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge doesn't allow professional drivers, so the field is filled with talented club racers who have an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities, and learn what it takes to enter professional racing.
One of the big issues with the series is car to car - contact not allowed in club racing. To be in the points you have to finish, so learning to stay out of trouble and to avoid those drivers who think the rules are for everyone else while fighting for position can be difficult.
IMSA officals have demonstrated they intend to enforce sportsman like behavior though and have already sent drivers home that don't practice good clean racing. Bob has been working hard this season to avoid such drivers and get out front with enough lead to stay clear of trouble.
