ARLAN Motorsport/Moton 2-Way Motorsport shock equipped Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car, driven by Bob Faieta, from Tujunga, Calif., Clinches 2008 IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge championship.

October 19, 2008
- Laguna Seca Raceway, Monterey, CA

Bob Faieta clinched the 2008 IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge Championship Platinum Class) yesterday in the final race of the season. In his Arlan Motorsport/Moton Suspension Technology 2008 Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car.

Faieta is the series' first double champion also winning the championship in 2007. Faieta won Saturday's Round 13 starting from the pole posting a 0.985 second qualifying margin on his series competitor Dino Steiner. Faieta led flag to flag.

Sunday for Round 14 Faieta started third behind Dino Steiner and Patrick Kelly who had both turned slightly faster laps during Saturday's race. On the start going into the Andretti hairpin (turn 2) Faieta dove under series competitor Steiner (Alex Job Racing) and held him at bay. While others hounded Steiner throughout the green flag laps, Bob kept his cool head and finished second behind Kelly (Kelley-Moss Racing) with third place going to Galen Beiker (Werks II/P7 Racing) who had a great weekend turning some of the fastest laps and beating Steiner (fourth place finish).

After going into the weekend tied in points with Steiner, but with 9 race wins to Steiner's 3 race wins, Faieta only had to keep the points tied to win the championship. Bob ended up 8 points ahead and 10 wins for his second consecutive series championship.

Faieta's teammate and team principal Steve Goldman finished on the podium in the Gold Class for 2006 & 2007 911 GT3 Cup cars in Saturday's Round 13 continuing his move up the order this season. Goldman hit by another car at the start of Sunday's Round 14 suffered a flat tire but he dove for the pits and got the tire changed just before a yellow caution and was able to return and stay on the lead lap. In spite of the pit stop he was able recover and work his way back to 5th position in a race plagued by caution periods.

In The Gold Class (2006-2007 997 GT3 Cup Cars) Tony Rivera in his Moton Motorsport equipped car broke an axle on the warm-up lap ending his round 13 hopes of extending his streak of victories to 13 and pitted. Sunday he started from 32rd position and charged to a second in class and 6th overall position in what looked more like a NASCAR champion's car. The normally immaculate Orange GT3 Cup car at the end had a row of tire marks down the passenger side from making room to pass more than once.

Rivera in the Moton equipped GT3 Cup already secured the 2008 championship at Petite LeMans (Road Atlanta) earlier this month.

AutoSport International Racecar Show Birmingham, England January, 2008

The biggest show in Motorsports has to be the AutoSport International Racecar Show each January in Birmingham, England where you'll find the greatest collection of racecar hardware, driver's gear, and racecars from vintage to last years champions.

If you've not been to this show, you haven't seen the latest technology. It makes no difference what you race, chances are a good number of the components are sourced here.

On our first visit to the show, we spent the entire first day in the engineering section open only Thursday and Friday to the trade, before opening it up to the general public (read race fanatics). Then the crowds are so great, you can't get close to see the cars and the camera flashes are blinding the view of the stunning young ladies... err cars at this great show.
