Faieta Sweeps Mid-Ohio with fifth win of the season in Round 8

Bob Faieta topped the timing all during practice and made it stick in qualifying for Friday Morning's Round 7 of the 2008 IMSA Challenge. Bob led every lap making this win look pretty easy, as if any win in this hotly contested class could be called easy. As usual the front runners of Dino Steiner (Platinum Class for 2008 cars) and Tony Rivera (Gold Class for 2005-2007 cars) continue their charges, but Bob Faieta put in a blistering 1:26.621 second lap for a new race lap record a full second faster than his closest competitor.

With the unusual engine failure of Faieta's car in round three, and the accompanying start from the back of the grid in round four he was down on points after winning the first two rounds at Sebring. A second place and a win at the Canadian Grand Prix last month helped lift him back within 22 points of points leader Steiner. Today Bob needs maximum points, and that's exactly what he earned with a hard fought win in Round 8, bringing him within 16 points of leader Dino Steiner of Wehingen, Germany.

Team mate and CareLevel Racing Team prinicipal Steve Goldman finished well up the order with a sixth place finish in Round 7 and an excellent fourth place finish in Round 8.

Another of our local southern California Porsche Owners Club racers - Galen Bieker had an excellent 3rd qualifying position, got shuffled back to sixth at the start but fought his way back to a 3rd place podium finish.

The young Tony Rivera who has swept all competitors in the Gold class (for 2005-2007 997 GT3 Cup cars) by taking his eighth consecutive Gold class win. By the way, Rivera also runs Moton Shocks on his GT3 Cup car.

AutoSport International Racecar Show Birmingham, England January, 2008

The biggest show in Motorsports has to be the AutoSport International Racecar Show each January in Birmingham, England where you'll find the greatest collection of racecar hardware, driver's gear, and racecars from vintage to last years champions.

If you've not been to this show, you haven't seen the latest technology. It makes no difference what you race, chances are a good number of the components are sourced here.

On our first visit to the show, we spent the entire first day in the engineering section open only Thursday and Friday to the trade, before opening it up to the general public (read race fanatics). Then the crowds are so great, you can't get close to see the cars and the camera flashes are blinding the view of the stunning young ladies... err cars at this great show.
